The Electronic Entertainment Expo (or more affectionately known E3) is about to start with Bethesda Softworks of Fallout and Elder Scrolls fame starting out the proceedings! With Fallout 4 having already been announced, most punters are watching out for a better look at the next DOOM game set to be released, along with anything that may not have been announced yet.
So keep an eye out here if you’re not on the live Twitch stream as Bethesda get ready to drop a Fat Boy on E3!
1:34PM NZT – The stream is waiting, and ready to go!
1:44PM NZT – Somehow they’re behind schedule, but there’s a great old track playing over the Fallout loading screen placeholder, so that’s something…
1:45PM NZT – Adam Sessler and Morgan Web are now on-screen doing a base-introduction about what’s at the venue itself for those attending
1:50PM NZT – Sessler and Web have crossed to an earlier piece they shot speaking with attendees outside the venue. Meeting amazing cosplayers and long-time fans, there’s a lot of excitement over the next Fallout game
2:02PM NZT – From a friend attending the event, it looks like attendees have a wristband that changes colours. What that means and how it ties into the event is anyone’s guess…
2:05PM NZT – It looks like Sessler and Web are signing off to cut to the event
2:07PM NZT – Pete Hines, VP of PR & Marketing for Bethesda is now on-stage introducing their conference
2:08PM NZT – He greets the international watchers online through YouTube and Twitch, with Twitch currently hosting an audience of close to 400,000 viewers
2:10PM NZT – As predicted, Bethesda start off their event with new DOOM footage
2:11PM NZT – Marty Stratton, Executive Producer for iD Software is now on-stage leading into the latest DOOM footage
2:21PM NZT – With a 10 minute clip of Single Player footage, the game looks set to continue it’s gore-filled levels in the next-gen with a return of the Super Shotgun and other classic DOOM weapons like the Plasma Rifle and Chainsaw. With new melee finishers and a Marine who has more movement, DOOM looks set to ramp up the action!
2:23PM NZT – A brief look at the Multiplayer experience which leads into DOOM Snapmap which is a tool for the community to create their own maps and games within DOOM
2:27PM NZT – Stratton closes out his piece with the Marine going to hell and facing off against the Demon hordes wielding his full load-out. Meeting the Devil, it ends with the reveal of the BFG’s return!
2:32PM NZT – Hines returns to announce that community tools like Snapmap will be hosted through BethesdaNet, a new hosting service
2:33PM NZT – This ties into why Battlecry Studios was founded and introduces Lucas Davis who shows more of their title Battlecry
2:40PM NZT – Dishonored 2 is confirmed as coming to the next-gen, with Part 1’s protagonist Corvo Attano joined by new character Emily Kaldwin. There will also be a Definitive Edition released for the next-gen, with all DLC in-game and updated graphics.
2:42PM NZT – A quick thank you from the team behind The Elder Scrolls Online and what to expect over the next year for consoles
2:45PM NZT – They have shown new title The Elder Scrolls Legends, which is a card game based on the world of the Elder Scrolls
2:48PM NZT – Todd Howard, Director for Bethesda Games is now on-stage to update us on Fallout 4
2:50PM NZT – Bethesda Games started working on this title immediately after they finished part 3 and while doing work on Skyrim. With attention to detail being the focus, this will allow the game to present the bigger picture.
2:54PM NZT – Fallout 4 will start before the War that ravages the Earth. Creating a couple where your character will take on the gender you leave the bathroom as, players will finally get to see what happened before the Human race had to enter the Vaults.
2:57PM NZT – Events transpire that place the players 200 years into the future as you discover a destroyed world. Meeting your old Helper-Bot, they show us ‘Dog’, which is what most players have been awaiting the return of.
3:01PM NZT – Confirming the location as Boston, players will get to experience one of the largest playable locations created by Bethesda Studios
3:06PM NZT – Howard has announced the PIP-BOY Edition of Fallout 4, which comes with a wearable PIP-BOY that can house your Mobile device and acts as a second screen for the game itself
3:09PM NZT – Along with this is the Mobile App Fallout Shelter which is available after the Conference on the Apple App Store
3:13PM NZT – Howard has shown a new system in Fallout 4 where players can now build their own town. As it grows, more NPC’s will join you and you will have to ensure that you have defences and the right people with you to protect this growing establishment.
Along with this is 50 unique weapons with 700 modifications and the ability to modify Power Armour, Fallout looks to give players the most immersive experience yet
3:20PMNZT – In a remarkable move, Todd Howard confirms Fallout 4 as releasing this year in November
3:23PM NZT – Hines returns to close out #BE3 advising attendees that they will be receiving a 3-piece Bethesda Vinyl Statue set and thanking the audience watching online
With a showcase that does it right, Bethesda come out with information gamers were after with some nice new content that is coming soon or available now.
Dropping all their cards, they’ve set a precedent that would be hard to top. Which is interesting considering that Sony and Microsoft are up next…
