A price guide?! IN THIS ECONOMY.
YES. I KNOW.
But look, JUST LOOK. I love The Last Of Us. I have a lot of positive experiences because of that game, like the time I scared the Marketing Manager for Sony Computer Entertainment NZ while exploring a spooky house.
Albeit, they had ensured The Last Of Us media event was held next to said spooky house, so they basically asked me to do it.
Or the time I had to “test” the game’s emotional range by asking my sister to watch the introduction section. Of course she absolutely lost her chill cause WE FAILED SARAH AGAIN, GODDAMMIT.
But yes, The Last Of Us is a title I truly love that has joined the upper-echelon of PlayStation titles that define the system.
So I thought it best that I construct a price guide of sorts for its upcoming sequel to help you all out there, whom love the game like me.
Plus it’s probably the closest I’ll come to crafting anything useful, unlike Joel who can consistently make Molotov cocktails out of your favourite brew like Legent (promo!).
Let’s get PRICESPYING (more promo!)
The Last Of Us Part II: Ellie Edition
A.K.A the kahuna edition. The big cheese. The one that was exclusive to Gamestop and has apparently already sold out.
RIP. On to the next I guess.
The Last Of Us Part II: Collector’s Edition
YES. It is just the Ellie Edition but without the backpack, vinyl and logo patch.
AND YET IT IS JUST AS TASTY.
Much like the Ellie Edition, the Collector’s Edition is locked in by Gamestop which means for us Kiwis, you can pick it up exclusively at EB Games for a cool $349.99 (well I think it’s cool enough).
Nothing to compare it to cause…EB Exclusive. LOL.
The Last Of Us Part II Special Edition
AYYYY now we’re starting to mix it up!
Escaping the grasp of capitalism, Mighty Ape has secured the Exclusive for the Special Edition.
Priced at $148 it has no competitors cause did you see I just said “Exclusive”? You’re right, I could probably say it as many times as XBOX do at their E3 presentations, but anyway it’s exclusive so it’s $148.
The Last Of Us Part II Standard Plus Edition
I’ve just realised as I’ve been writing this guide that we keep flip-flopping between exclusives which is kind of incredible.
I suspect the Standard edition might be the first version we see have a range of prices across the board, but this one gets to sit slightly outside of it with its ‘Plus’ moniker.
The ‘Plus’ stands for ‘EB Exclusive reversible cover’ and that’s it. All pre-orders get the Ammo Capacity Upgrade and Crafting Training Manual, so…cover.
This will set you back $119 at EB Games ‘exclusively’.
The Last Of Us Part II Standard Edition
Here it is. The edition that the majority will probably pick up.
THE STANDARD EDITION.
Recommended retailing puts it at $119 for it’s February 21st, 2020 release, but let’s check out what everyone is playing with:
Mighty Ape – $99
JB Hi-Fi – $98
The Warehouse – Not yet loaded but search produces shoes.
nzgameshop – $82.99
nzgameshop no doubt takes the lead if you don’t mind the shipping delay.
There’s a few others that can be found at PriceSpy, whose list will no doubt grow as we get closer to the release.
But I’ll keep my ear to the ground and update where needed, so maybe this won’t be the last of me.
For now.
