Boy, the heading sure sounds like a video game huh!
This game works in reverse though, apparently getting easier as time goes on instead of more difficult. So while we started off in the far trickier LEVEL 4; After much grinding, we finally got to LEVEL 1. Is it easier? Maybe. The fast foods have definitely helped us level-up (down?) faster.
But that didn’t stop gamers from doing their own leveling-up in video games during this time.
“According to our historical click data, even though Kiwis were unable to buy games during lockdown, it didn’t deter them from clicking on some of the latest new releases.” says PriceSpy New Zealand Country Manager, Liisa Matinvesi-Bassett.
“For example, Final Fantasy VII – Remake for PlayStation 4 and Animal Crossing: New Horizons for Nintendo Switch were found to be the most popular games shoppers clicked on during April.”
No surprise really. Fans were thirsting for FFVII Remake far before it got hit by the postal ban-hammer. This left people scrambling to find deals for it, or ways to get a copy of the game once this was lifted. And Animal Crossing New Horizons became THE GAME to have during lockdown. This was thanks to it being a better life than the hell-pit we were experiencing. I like Ring Fit at number 3 because boy…we all really wanted to try come out of lockdown looking better too, huh?
Matinvesi-Bassett suggests while “gamers may have missed out on a new release over lockdown”, the key is to wait. Insights found by PriceSpy show the best time to buy a new release is “three months after launch”. If you can wait, then bargains are waiting for you! If you can’t, welcome to my club then cause DAY ONE BABY.
Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare completes the top 5 most-searched games in April, because yes; It shows up TWICE. Apparently what lockdown needed was sweaty multiplayer Call of Duty.
But whatever helped us survive Lockdown eh?
And thanks to PriceSpy, I can help you level up by giving you the chance to win TWO of the TOP FIVE most-searched games for April. You could mix it up by picking up Animal Crossing and FFVII:Remake. Or you could totally get both versions of Modern Warfare! It’s up to YOU.

Omg! I definitely would choose animal crossing as my siblings have a Nintendo and they would love to play it! And FFVII as i would love to jam this on the ps4 for nostalgia! ??
HAHA! YEEEESSSSS! Great picks, but potentially not as powerful as TWO copies of Modern Warfare huh??
