We’ve all been waiting for this right?
This film which screamed “MULTIVERSE” in its trailers. With each one upping the ante, the hype for this film was reaching critical level. And now after seeing the film, it’s entirely safe to say that it is WARRANTED. Of course we’ll be smart and point out that yes, the film does require a bit of viewing to capture the entirety of its revelation. This even branching into mediums we may not have thought we’d see jump up on to the big screen. But if you have that ONE Marvel friend who can fill the gaps, you’ll need them. Because there’s going to be A LOT for you to talk about.
Picking up hot off the post-credits ending of Spider-Man: Far From Home, Peter Parker (Tom Holland) has been put under the spotlight thanks to one last master stroke by Mysterio. Pulling together his support group of Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), Ned (Jacob Batalon) and MJ (Zendaya), he begins to digest this development. Happy (Jon Favreau) is also there! As he and May were sorting out what they were at the end of Far From Home.
After riddling himself with anxiety, a nice sprinkling of plot leads Parker towards Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch). They come up with a plan which should work, but we forget Peter is still a kid so the spell goes…awry. This spell then understandably draws in some of the reveals we’ve seen in the trailers, and thus: MULTIVERSE. Review wise, I’m not gonna say much else. Spider-Man: No Way Home is definitely a film which fits the bill of going in with as little known about it as possible. Yes, somehow the things we’ve seen don’t even compare to what else pops up.
Pacing is outstanding, as the just over 2 and a half hour runtime went by quickly. It’s not unrelenting, it simply follows a beat which is incredibly entertaining to follow. Jokes pop up as often as the action, while the drama brings down any moments of levity so we can swing upward again after.
It is an OUTRAGEOUSLY good movie.
Again, I just can’t elaborate further due to this film being the most spiders of man. Every little thing can reveal another part of just how big and good the film is. When discussing the film with a friend after our viewing, I realised it was all the little things which really made this film HIT. The subtle comic book nods. The answered questions. And the tender moments which remind us that it’s just about a kid wanting to do good.
And when that kid helps someone, they help everyone.
The amount of things Spider-Man: No Way Home has in it will drench the internet over the coming days. I also think it will earn A LOT at the Box Office. With it being a tent pole Marvel film headlined by their most popular character, it has all the earmarks of success written on it. Along with this, it also brings a tonne of live-action Spidey moments fans have been waiting for, and the ever growing danger of the multiverse on the horizon.
I hope that when you see it, you cheer, clap and yell as much as I did while watching it.
