“The Avengers. It’s what we call ourselves. Sorta like a team. Earth’s Mightiest Heroes type thing.”
The billion dollar film. Maybe this is the suit of armor Iron Man was talking about when “throwing down” with Cap. Under the watchful eye of director Joss Whedon, Feige‘s master plan comes to fruition. After 4 films (and 1 left in for continuities sake), the Avengers assemble in a battle for the Earth that’s mostly confined to New York. But it brings us the team-up we’ve all been waiting for.
But is it complete, or do we need to go back to the manual?
What was great about the synopsis, is it used to have “Thor’s evil brother” as the descriptor for the Lord of Rule 34. Potentially overlooking the already inferred duality of the character, it is of merit that Loki schemes to take Earth.
Why? Cause why not I suppose.
There’s also something about kneeling and how there’s always men like him. Anyway, because he’s being a nuisance he either accidentally or conveniently forms the Avengers. It’s here that people would go “BUT HOW COULD YOU CONTROL ALL THAT EGO” and one, that’s insulting people you don’t know. And two, it’s their job and they’re there to do it.
And the ensemble filled with almost as many stars as the Milky Way (okay, maybe less) does a brilliant job of assembling…them. Contrasting personalities which find humour along the way, I think the most surprising thing about Avengers was how funny it is. But with Whedon in the chair, it makes sense; These little conversations that pop life into time-displaced soldiers, gods and armored men.
And thus, the Avengers not only excel at saving the Earth, but at placing Marvel Studios firmly into pole position at the Box Office.
These gods ain’t so puny, and Phase 2 will show it.
