WHAT AN EPISODE.
I’d agree it’s been hard not to say that Wandavision hasn’t been a slow burn. I personally found that this favored the sheer tension and creepiness of the show. But in a culture currently trying to free itself from the shackles of the “binge”, it’s hard to tell people they’re wrong for feeling that way. It may also be that this isn’t your typical MCU fare, something I’ve been sure to keep touching on in previous wonderings.
And then episode 4 happened.
It was a bombastic result of build-up, mashed together with our typical MCU adventures. This saw an episode that triumphantly declared “THIS IS JUST HOW THE MCU IS NOW”. And people absolute ate it up. So I turn to the people again, looking for wonderings, because crowdsourcing is as fun as episode 4 was.
My favorite reference from Wandavision S01E04 Jesse! Agent James Woo, played by the ever excellent Randall Park, returns from his stint in Ant-Man & The Wasp to welcome Agent Rambeau back to the world of SWORD. As he introduces himself, he flexes his incredible magical might, using sleight of hand to present his business card. This being a move influenced by one Scott Lang, in the very movie Woo was introduced to the MCU in.

Coulson’s last appearance in the MCU is now 2019’s Captain Marvel. This is because Kevin Feige has said that Agents Of SHIELD is no longer canon. This, by all accounts, means Coulson is still dead after the events of 2012’s Avengers. So I’d assume he’s in the ground. Or maybe he’ll return in Westview…
“And how about Fury?”. Thanks to 2019’s Spider-Man: Far From Home, we know Fury is in space! And in this episode, they touched on SWORD working on space-things, so no doubt Fury is involved in this somehow. And maybe 4 people who look to bring something fantastic to the MCU in future.
As for the “Mandalorian level cameo“, I personally think it may be Doctor Strange. We know Wanda is involved in that film, so it makes sense that he shows up in Wandavision. But the scale of the statement is interesting, cause there are only a few who do line up with that. Stark would be interesting, and would tie-in to Wanda’s grief and trauma really well. Fury is in space as we just said, and doesn’t match the scale I feel.

We’ve heard Evan Peters is involved with Wandavision in a “mystery role” (don’t Google, lest you spoil yourself). And Pietro being involved in any way, would suit this scale. But Feige has said he doesn’t want the mutants back any time soon, so is it a setup? And Magneto? Damn. But again, mutant. Any time soon. Same thing. I suppose we’ll find out!

We’ve already touched on this, but I just wanted to share it again as there was some hilarious dialogue about it. That it was canon, though it isn’t any more, and that time was wasted on it. Poor Agents Of SHIELD. Coulson and May deserved better.
MATT’S BACK! I can’t recall what the head tilt is. But yes, it does seem evident that Wanda is the creator of this reality. And this reality seems to cross over with our MCU. In it, are people who may be trapped. And a Vision who may or may not be our Vision. This Vision also perceives that something is wrong, which I think is a very intriguing morsel indeed.
So just what will happen in episode 5? I suspect from here, the two realities will start to intersect. We’ll see Wanda dealing with a reality trying to break in, while the normal reality tries to figure it all out. With the introduction of Thor‘s Darcy Lewis, played by Kat Dennings, the twigs of the show are starting to reach further toward the branches of the MCU itself. And once that comes together, I’m hoping it pays off as well as this episode did.
